[Motorcycling] It's been awhile...

My last email was almost a month ago, so this is well over due. There's
been lots of stuff going on, so I'll try to summarize as best I can to
keep the length of the message down.

The last trip I posted about, Doug and I started doing the Eastern
Harley Davidson Dealers Association contest. You can get details at
http://www.ridewithus.org if you're interested. So, we got two dealers
that weekend. Since then, most of our rides have been getting out and
visiting dealers. Saturday 6/7 we did all six dealers in the 717 area
code, then we hit two dealers 6/8 (not much is open on Sunday). On
Saturday 6/14 we hit four dealers - the furtherest on the list was in
Stroudsburg. Tuesday 6/17, Doug and I both took off from work and we
hit another six dealers. It's been a blast riding all over the place.
I'm not so concerned about getting all forty dealers (though we are
half-way there). It's really about the journey and this give us a
direction to head in. Maybe I'm just not that imaginative, but Doug and
I are always looking at each other saying "where do you want to ride to
today." This gives us the where, and then we can have fun getting there.

On the 6/17 trip, we were starring are a map looking at directions to
get to the next dealer. A guy rode up and asked where we were going.
So, we told him the dealer's name and he said, "give me 5 minutes and
I'll lead you over there." Good thing too, because the instructions for
getting from Salem County HD to Barb's HD were a little strange towards
the end ... at least for someone whose not from Jersey and doesn't get
over there much. Nice guy, I believe his name was Jason if I remember
correctly.

Getting work done on the bike:

For those that were not in the loop, I ordered a whole mess of parts for
the Harley. The stuff finally came in, and I have a service appointment
scheduled for Friday 6/27 to get it installed. So, I'm getting new
handlebars, new grips, an oil cooler, some chrome trim for the voltage
regulator (to match the oil cooler), having the rear pegs removed
(required a bracket), and I'm still on the fence about getting the siren
for the security system or not. Originally, they thought they'd have to
order new cables for the clutch, throttle, and brake. However, they
test fitted the bars on a new bike in the show room and said I don't
need cables - which saves probably close to $300. They claim if I drop
it off Thursday night that they'll have it back to be Friday evening. I
just need to find a ride home on Thursday from the dealer.

Anyway, it'll be a little while before we do another big trip. There's
a bunch of stuff going on this weekend, and I think I'm on-call the
weekend after ... I need to double check that. Until the next time, see
you all on the road.

George
