Monday and Tuesday were a wash for riding. Wednesday, Dan and Chuck came
up, and we rode (all three of us) into the high school to do some drills
(starting, stopping and turning). It was the first time I was out on the road
for more than 20 minutes, and I really appreciated them taking time out of
their evening to ride an hour up here just to get me out.
Thursday was a wash, but Friday my new brake lever came in. So, Doug and I
went to pick that up and then I installed it myself. We got out on the road
after dinner, and I was having a little trouble adjusting to having a full
brake lever again. So, we came back to the house, I had a cigarette and then
we went out again to get gas in the bikes. Overall, probably about 15 miles
if I had to guess. I really need to start logging the miles.
Today, Saturday, we got out after dinner again and got a solid 12 miles in.
There were a group of bikes that pulled out just in front of us. I hung back
from them a bit, but tried to keep their pace at around 40 MPH for maybe a
mile. Then we turned off on to another back road, looped around, and got back
to the house.
In an effort not to get bored with the same old roads, I brought up Google
maps and started looking for good country roads to ride on that don't get a
ton of car traffic. I'll have to play in traffic eventually, but for now the
back roads are my friends. Doug and I checked out some of the roads today,
and I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to check out some more.
I run my screen resolution at 1600x1200, so I'm not sure if you'll see the
full view I see. But, here is the link to the view I have on Google maps.

It looks like September is the earliest that Doug can make any of the PA MSP
courses. I think I'm going to try for a walk-in over then next couple weeks,
and then I'll do the course again with Doug in September as a refresher.
