[Motorcycling] Back on 2 wheels...

Well, I picked up the bike after work today. The tank looks good. They
didn't put the decals back on, but I'm not missing them at all (and it was
like another $50-something anyway). I'm also glad I told them to give the
bike a once over. The guy said that the intake was all junked up with crap.
He said it looked like a nest of something. Anyway, the thing runs a lot
nicer now - I can definitely see a power difference.
So, I rode home from the repair shop and hung out at the house in the A/C for
awhile, had dinner, etc. Then Doug and I went over to his parent's house to
set up their new television. We were there for awhile and it was dark when
we left. There were no issues getting to the gas station for Doug or back
home. However, I can definitely say that I don't like riding at night -
though I won't avoid either. I also need to see in the Hi-Beam can be
adjusted separately from the Lo-Beam. The Hi-Beam looks up into the trees
(at least when you're doing 45 it does), but the Lo-Beam is fine.
I debated trying to ride in to work tomorrow and decided against it. It's
going to be insanely hot, and I think I should do a "dry run" over the
weekend first. Maybe Saturday or Sunday I'll try to get down to work on the
bike. Then I'll think about riding in after this heat clears if I'm
comfortable with it.
I'm also looking at riding down to Easton, MD (my parent's) for the day on
August 25th. My Mom is having a 60th birthday party for my old-man, and I
really should go even if I'm still happy about his opinion on motorcycling.
It should be a good trip if the weather is good. All the way down PA-10 from
Reading to PA-472 in Oxford. PA-472 turns into MD-213 and then you pick up
MD-313. MD-313 goes out to US-301 and then I pick up some back roads get to
their place off of that. Doug will probably be going with me, so it should
be a good ride for both of us (about 130 miles one-way).
If anyone is interested, I'm probably going to try to ride down to the Ren
Fair one of these weekends. They start up next weekend and run until the end
of October (if I remember correctly). It sounds like it could be fun and I
have never been there before. Let me know if you're interested and I'll keep
you posted.
George
